Twitter Updates

A number of tweets were posted on the Ajrowiggins Graphic Twitter feed ( @Arjowiggins ) putting the totals in perspective. In addition, the top 3 tweeters in relation to the updates will be sent a ‘mini gift’ made in Madagascar by recycling used tin cans. The profits of which have been used to support local street children.

  • Since January 2010, by using Arjowiggins Graphic recycled papers in the UK the environmental impact was reduced by 168,003,947 kg landfill
  • That amount of landfill is the equivalent to 14,000 cubic meters (based on 1.2 tonnes per cubic mater)
  • First of many #TenuousTweets of the week; the landfill saving (kg) is the equivalent to 42,000 average Asian Elephants
  • The landfill saving, based on paper alone (0.6 tonnes per cubic meter) would fill just under 1/3 of the Empire State Building
  • For any eagle eyed followers, general landfill weighs 1.2 tonnes per m3 but waste paper weighs 0.6 tonnes per  m3!
  • Here’s a mind boggling stat, the amount of landfill we saved (168,004 tonnes) weighs more than all the gold taken out of the earth to date!

  • Since January 2010, by using Arjowiggins Graphic recycled papers in the UK the environmental impact was reduced by 3,123,971,300 litres of water
  • That’s 687,177,335 gallons of water saved!
  • The water saving that we have made since 2010 is 3,123,971.3 m3, which is 0.0031 km3 #massive
  • The water saving we have made since 2010 could fill 1,249 Olympic Swimming Pools!
  • The amount of water saved is the equivalent to the annual water usage of 22,489 average households
  • Water is the only substance that is found naturally on earth in three forms: liquid, gas, solid

  • Since January 2010 by using Arjowiggins Graphic recycled papers in the UK the environmental impact was reduced by405,012,130 kWh electricity
  • The electricity saving would light 1 million (100 Watt Iridescent) Light Bulbs for 24 weeks, or 4,050 hours to be precise
  • Here’s a good stat; The electricity that we have saved could light up the Eifel Tower for 52 years!
  • Fun Fact: In the 1880’s there was a ‘war of currents’ between Thomas Edison (DC) and Nikola Tesla (AC).
  • Both wanted their system to be used, AC eventually won as it is safer and can be used over long distances!
  • Final one for the day: the amount of energy we have saved could run 1,000 standard desktop computers from now to the year 2527!

  • Since January 2010 by using Arjowiggins Graphic recycled papers in the UK the environmental impact was reduced by 28,449,055 kg of CO2
  • That’s 28,449 tonnes of CO2 and greenhouse gasses we have saved!
  • FACT: CO2 is odorless, colorless, and tasteless.
  • The CO2 saving would be enough to offset the annual output of 4 of the worlds lesser known nations! Can you guess what they are?
  • The countries are: Kiribati, Wallis & Futuna, Saint Helena, Ascension & Tristan de Cunha and Niue!

  • Since January 2010 by using Arjowiggins Graphic recycled papers the UK the environmental impact was reduced by 273,096,400 kg of wood
  • The amount of wood we have saved is the same weight as 398,100 Mini Coopers!
  • The weight of wood we have saver by manufacturing recycled paper instead of virgin fibre paper is the same as 1,517 Blue Whales!
