Cocoon paper brings environmental message to every page of award-winning wildlife photography book

Wildlife photography book, "A Wilder Life", which is printed on 100% recycled Cocoon paper, has been celebrated for both its contribution to conservation and sustainable production.

The photography book, which documents and pays tribute to Europe’s amazing biodiversity whilst raising awareness of much-needed conservation efforts, has been awarded ‘Panda Book of the Year Award 2018’ by WWF Sweden and ‘The Best in Green Film Production Worldwide Since 2012’ at this years’ Deauville Green Awards.

The ‘Panda Book of the Year Award 2018’ celebrates the best portrayals of nature and seeks to recognise the individuals who make a significant personal contribution to the conservation of the natural world. ‘The Best in Green Film Production Worldwide Since 2012’ recognises modern methods of production which use energy-saving methods and save the exploitation of natural resources.

Created by photographers Magnus Lundgren and Staffan Widstrand, the photography book is an ode to nature, highlighting the importance of re-wilding nature and conservation. The message of the book is communicated not just through the striking photography, but through its thoughtful production. Antalis, a distributor of Arjowiggins Graphic’s Cocoon range, was a creative partner to the Wilder Life Project with Arjowiggins Graphic’s Cocoon Silk 100% recycled paper chosen as the printed material of choice.

The story is vividly told using rich visual content which is complemented by Cocoon Silk, a paper that keeps the environment at the heart. The choice of Cocoon Silk paper for printing is in perfect harmony with the book’s eco message and purpose, allowing the authors to stay true to their strong ecological convictions without compromising on visual quality.

Magnus and Steffan, photographers and creators of A Wilder Life, said,

“Nature is coming back if we just leave it in peace. We are excited to spread that message to a larger audience through our ‘A Wilder Life’ photography book. To show off Europe’s exceptional natural heritage, we naturally opted for a 100% recycled paper. We were attracted by the eco-responsible dimension of Cocoon Silk paper, as well as its ultra-smooth surface which really brings out the brightness of the photographs.

“When we saw the final print we were very proud. It’s top of the line paper and top of the line printing. The image rendering of this paper, the white point, is supreme. It’s what you could expect of a normal white professional silk paper.”

Mickael Gohier, Marketing Director, Nordic, Baltic, Russia says:

“We used all our knowledge and expertise to help Magnus and Staffan express environmental sensitivity, which is clearly present in A Wilder Life. Winning the Panda Book of the Year Award 2018 demonstrates the harmony between the chosen paper and its content.
