Alon Bar-Shany of HP Indigo - Recycled Papers

BLOG: Alon Bar-Shany of HP Indigo

We caught up with Alon Bar-Shany, General Manager, HP Indigo Digital Press Division at Drupa.  He shares his views with us on innovation and HP Indigo's strategy.

What is HP Indigo trying to communicate?

The time to invest in digital and specifically HP Indigo is now.  We have innovative products for commercial printers and converters and focus on what they can do with the Indigo solution and the array of media we have available.

Arjowiggins Graphic is a certified media partner who provided paper for demonstrations at Drupa.  How important is certified media as a strategy for HP Indigo?

It’s critical.  At Drupa we aim to demonstrate vast array of high quality formats that are achievable on HP Indigo.  Our customers love the technology and ultimately seeing the end output which is beautiful quality and conveys what can be done in a very very environmentally friendly way today.  Paper is not actually bad for the environment and digital printing technology enables you to print only when you need something. In terms of the environmental footprint, there's no better combination than ink on paper.

So recycled paper is an important part of your strategy?

It's a very important part of our strategy because the brands are specifying it.  Consumers are very aware of the environment and, unlike maybe 10-15 years ago, the quality of the recycled paper is fantastic.

We’re an Alliance One Partner. What do you expect from your Alliance One Partners?

Collaboration.  We want to discuss opportunities and ways in which we can work together to help our customers succeed. Drupa is a great example of this, where we worked together which papers work on the machine, showed customers how they can procures and use the papers.
